KissHug – Aiko

I miss my Japanese songs!!! Ahahaha.. Lately I’ve been listening to Korean songs. But before that I had an addiction to anything Japanese – especially ARASHI! So that’s why I’m posting a Japanese song this time. But it is NOT an Arashi song. It is however related to one of the Arashi members – Jun Matsumoto.

hana yori dango final

The song I am posting now is the from the original soundtrack of the Hana Yori Dango Final movie and it’s sung by Aiko. The song is called KissHug. For someone who watched the movie you would notice that this song was played after Makino fought the bear on the deserted island (I don’t know why a bear was in that island — and it’s a bear because Makino said “kuma” which means bear in Japanese). I’m posting this song because I love Aiko’s voice — I’m not even sure why, and because I needed to post a Japanese song!!! But anyway enjoy — and if you’re a Hana Yori Dango fan (like I am), watch the movie. Also check out SARS fan subs to get you’re own copy, they released their sub version late last year.

KissHug (Translation)

I have never once thought of you as a friend
Ever since the day that I met you
Some things have changed
But for me and you
There is much more that hasn’t changed at all

*The way home was hot, I watched until I couldn’t see you
Until your figure grew really small
I loved you
I still do, I still do…

Summer hair brushes against my cheeks
As the years go by I’ll surely remember
Your shadow, my words
You Love, You Love…

I make a wish on the 3rd and 4th celestial tear I count in the sky
I want to be with you forever

We stand back to back, without knowing so much, and hear a sound
It’s so hot it doesn’t matter if we break apart

I raise the light up and see a passing rain’s haze through an opening
Your shadow, I long for it
You Love, You Love…

(Repeat*)

Summer hair brushes against my cheeks
As the years go by I’ll surely remember
Your shadow, my words
A crying face, an angry face, suddenly lips touched lips
Proof that we vowed to be together
You Love, You Love…
You Love, You Love…
I love…

KissHug (Kanji)

You Love You Love…

You Love You Love…

(※くり返し)

夏髪が頬を切る
また年を重ねてきっと思い出す
あなたの影 あたしの言葉
泣き顔怒った顔突然唇に触れた唇も
傍にいると誓った証
You Love You Love…
You Love You Love…
I Love…

Love So Sweet – Arashi

I mentioned in a previous entry that I was addicted to Hana Yori Dango. The next song that I wanted to share is tha beginning theme of the second season of the drama. This song was again sung by Arashi. Its called Love So Sweet. I loved the concept of this video.. tha part where they acted like mannequins. It was kinda cute 😀

Love So Sweet (Lyrics Translation by kiwi musume)

Ever since I realised that what was shining wasn’t the mirror and it wasn’t the sun – it was you
The moon smiling way above the tearful clouds, one more love story

My wounded dreams are yesterday now
Let my love song ring out into the sky

Memory, I’ll never, ever forget this sky, even if we’re apart
There’ll never again be a season when I meet someone I love so much
Shine brighter, my greatest lady, this love is sure to softly reach you
Believing is everything, love so sweet

I hold out my hand to the sky so I can always see it from there
And memories of being with you spread out
I was so obstinate and stubborn
And you changed me, a love story is set in motion

May our two winding roads
Merge together here and become a rainbow

Memory, I’ve been chasing this dream all this time, even if we go far away
No matter how tough the night, even if you’re about to give up on your promise
Smile more, my final lady, this love is sure to softly reach you
There’s no night that won’t give way to the dawn, love so sweet

This love I can’t tell you about
Becomes flowers that rain down on the town
No matter where I am, I feel you here

Memory, I’ll never, ever forget this sky, even if we’re apart
There’ll never again be a season when I meet someone I love so much
Shine brighter, my greatest lady, this love is sure to softly reach you
Believing is everything
There’s no night that won’t give way to the dawn
Believing is everything, love so sweet

Recommended Drama – Hana Yori Dango

The first Jdorama that I watched was Hana Yori Dango. A friend of mine urged me to watch it. During that time, the show was airing on one of the local TV networks on a Saturday.  I never had a chance to catch it on TV as it was shown on Saturday afternoons — and usually on Saturdays I would either be out of the house or watching other channels (we have cable! go figure :D). And I was also a bit hesitant, as I mentioned in my previous post, to watch it because I was afraid I would be disappointed as I still loved the Taiwanese version, Meteor Garden.

I finally had the chance to watch the drama one afternoon while we were lazing around on afternoon in her house. And from that time on I was addicted to the series and to Japanese drama! It makes me want to go to Ebisu Garden Place 😀

hana yori dango

Hana Yori Dango is the drama adaptation of the Japanese manga of the same title (aka Boys Over Flowers) by Kamio Yoko. It is tells about the love story between Makino Tsukushi, the only poor girl in Eitoku Gauken, and Domyoji Tsukasa, a rich spoiled brat who is the heir to the Domyoji Group of Companies. Hana Yori Dango  has 2 seasons and last year they made a movie (Hana Yori Dango Final). A fun fact: The author made another volume to the manga to incorporate the story of the movie.

Synopsis:

Hana Yori Dango 1

Makino Tsukushi is the only poor student at Eitoku Gakuen, the school of the ridiculously rich and privileged that is ruled by Flower 4 or F4, a group of four boys who come from extremely powerful families: Domyoji Tsukasa, the leader and heir of the Domyoji World Finance Group; Hanazawa Rui, the introverted son of a large company; Nishikado Sojiro, a player who is the heir of a tea ceremony school; and Mimasaka Akira, a madam killer with ties to the underground. If a student gets on the F4’s bad side, he/she gets a red notice and is bullied and driven out of school.

Makino hopes to pass her days quietly– without drawing any attention to herself– but one day, she stands up to Domyoji in defense of her friend. The next day, Makino gets the dreaded red notice. Even though she is harassed, Makino decides to keep going to school because she is a “tough weed”. She declares war right back on the F4. Her resolve gets the attention of her crush Hanazawa Rui and oddly enough, rouses romantic feelings in her worst enemy, Domyoji Tsukasa. (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Hana_Yori_Dango)

Hana Yori Dango 2

This second season of Hana Yori Dango picks up right after Domyoji leaves for New York. After confessing to Domyoji, Makino has not spoken to him for a year. Rui and the other members of F4 try and help Makino meet Domyoji again by going to New York for the christmas holidays. Though F4 and Makino meet Domyoji again, he has become a completely different person, and so they leave for Japan.

Some time later, Domyoji’s mother annouces that they will be returning to Japan. There, they hold a giant super-rich and classy birthday party for Domyoji and announce something very important. Domyoji, like in the first season, is engaged to a rich girl and heir. The only difference is that they are to be wed soon. What will Makino do?

On the side, Rui begins to fall in love with Makino… will this become a love… square? (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Hana_Yori_Dango)

Hana Yori Dango Final

begins as Domyoji holds an extravagant press conference to announce his wedding to Makino the following spring. The press is playing her up like a modern-day Cinderella and everything seems to be going well. Later, the families offer congratulations to the couple. Even Domyoji’s mother—who was formerly vehemently opposed to the relationship and tried desperately to break them up at every opportunity—is suddenly happy for them. She even offers Makino a family heirloom: a tiara worth 10 billion yen (about $95 million USD) called “Smile of Venus”.
Later in their hotel room, Makino begins to worry that her life is about to take a drastic change from what she’s used to. Domyoji consoles her by telling her he’ll spend the rest of his life protecting her, but just as he says that a man dressed in black crashes into their room through a window and steals the “Smile of Venus” tiara. Domyoji tries to chase the man but he vanishes into the city. By the time they get back to the hotel room the glass is completely cleaned up and the window is replaced as if nothing had ever happened. Obviously there’s some sort of conspiracy going on. Could Domyoji’s mother be meddling again, hoping to make it look like Makino carelessly lost the tiara herself? Or is someone at the hotel trying to cover up the crime? Domyoji and Makino are determined to get to the bottom of things, and end up going on a wild adventure together which takes them through Las Vegas, Hong Kong, and various places throughout the world. And don’t worry fangirls, the rest of F4 will show up too. (http://www.mysoju.com/hana-yori-dango-final/)
Cast

Makino Tsukushi was played by Inoue Mao (First Kiss),  Domyoji Tsuka was played by Matsumoto Jun (one of the members of Arashi, you may also remember him from Bambino and Gokusen), Hanazawa Rui was played by Oguri Shun (Hana Kimi), Nishikado Sojiro was played by Shota Matsuda (Liar Game, Regatta), and Mimasaka Aikira was played by Abe Tsuyoshi (Sensei wa Erai!, Yume wo Kanaeru Zo).

Difference Between Hana Yori Dango and Meteor Garden (spoiler alert!!!)

I really like both series. However, though both have the same stories, there were differences with the series. One obvious difference is that the Japanese version had a movie while the Taiwanese version was only until the second series. Another difference is that the Taiwanese version had a total of  58 episodes (27 for the first season and 31 for the second season) while Hana Yori Dango had 20 (9 for the first season and 11 for the second). Because of this, when you watch it, you will feel that the story was dragged for the Taiwanese version while the Japanese version was fast paced. I’m not sure it it was me but I feel that the Japanese version exerted more effort on making the set more etravagant — you should see their props.

As for the story line, there was a difference in the time when Domyoji had amnesia. In the Hana Yori Dango, his amnesia was delimited to 2 episodes (last 2 episodes in the second season), in Meteor Garden, it was the basis for the whole story of the 2nd season. Hana Yori Dango takes us to New York while Meteor Garden took us to Spain. And while in Meteor Garden Domyoji was about to propose to Makino in Spain, the proposal in Hana Yori Dango happened in the last episode of the season 2.  There were also some characters in Meteor Garden that were not in Hana Yori Dango — the most obvious would be Makino’s best friend Kazuya Aoike (Qing He).

To know understand what I am ranting about, I recommend to watch this series.

If you want to watch the series, you may either watch streaming at mysoju or at dramacrazy.net.

Wish – Arashi

A year ago, my addiction to anything Asian was limited to Taiwanese and Korean stuff. Until I saw my first jdorama which was Hana Yori Dango. A friend of mine recommended that I watch it. This drama is the Japanese version of the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden. At first I was a bit hesitant to watch it — as I was afraid that it wouldn’t live up to the Taiwanese version. But when I saw it.. boy was I suprised! It was shorter (only total of 20 episodes for hyd 1 and 2).

The beginning song of the drama is also a favorite of mine (notice I have lots of favorite Asian songs :D.. i can’t help it!). It was a song called Wish sung by Arashi.  Jun Matsumoto, who played Domyouji Tsukasa in the drama, is one of the members of the Jpop band. I loved the music video of the song.. It had a story of a painter who falls in love with a maiden in a town. He paints the picture of the girl on a big wall to show how much he loves the girl.. sigh.. wish someone would do that for me too ahahaha! I wanted to share this music to everyone so here it is.

Wish Translation (translation by kiwi musume)

As a love song begins to drift through the town
People cuddle up together
I’ll surely take you
Into the light

This experience of loving someone and having my love not reach them
Is making me stronger, even my aching heart
It seems that until I become kind of guy you like
You won’t even look my way, you’re so cruel

I’ve just realised that the reason I think the changing seasons are beautiful
Is because you’re there
I’m going to tell you now

As a love song begins to drift through the town
People cuddle up together
I’ll surely take you
Into the light

I tried to become a nice guy for you
But that kind of guy is nowhere near enough for you, is it?
We need to climb this windy, uphill path
If we can live together, I’ll protect you
I swear

As a love song begins to drift through the town
People smile at each other
When bells ring out, I’ll surely
Be holding you tight

As a love song begins to drift through the town
People cuddle up together
I’ll surely take you
Into the light

I’ll keep loving you
