Ready, Set, Go – Aziatix (MV)

Posting this because the artwork in the video was done beautifully!!

It’s Aziatix Ready, Set, Go.

Honestly I didn’t know about this song and I have not heard about it. As this was uploaded on youtube in July, I am guessing this video was for the Olympics. But I this year I was not too much interested with the Olympics — ergo I have never seen this song or heard this video. Posting it because I like the artwork on the video so much!

I haven’t been listening to Aziatix these days. I think too many Kpop songs and too little time. But I am very happy about this video. I wish I could do an artwork like this. The artwork tells a lot about unity. It must have been a painstaking task to do this artwork! A big applause to the one who made it and the one who had the concept for it! It worked for me!!

I’m not much of a fan for this Aziatix song, I think there are better songs. Although, I love the part where they inserted a modern version of Arirang. That’s the best part of the song. of the e best part But this video is one of the best ones they have made!

Enjoy the artwork!

Song Joong Ki — Nice Guy Pic Spam

I haven’t been paying attention to too much dramas recently (Reply 1997 ended and I haven’t been watching too much Kdrama). These days, I’m busy keeping up with all the English series new seasons and premiers.

But I do watch one drama because of Song Joongki!!!

Now this is not a recommendation post but rather a pic spam post. Though I like the drama’s story and Joongki devious character, I will be waiting for the drama to end before I can recommend it.

So here are the many faces of  Song Joongki in Nice Guy.

Innocent Joongki

Serious Joongki

Smirking Joongki

Sexy Back!

Smiling Joongki

Say Ahhh

Cute Joongki

Saranghae ❤ ❤ ❤

This guy is really really handsome! I was talking to a Korean friend yesterday and she said he is handsome beyond words. His skin is even better compared to all the other actresses in Korea! Omg!

I’m pretty impressed with him in Nice Guy! On top of that he is very very handsome!

Hope you like it!

I Will Show You 보여줄게 – Ailee (MV)

Yay! I’ve been waiting for this!! 🙂 I was really anticipating another song from Ailee and now she is back with her new track I Will Show You 보여줄게.

The Song

For this post, I’ll talk about the song first.

OMG!!! I love this girl and I love her songs. Actually I’ve been a fan since she was still doing her covers on youtube! This girl is very very talented. And actually I am not disappointed in the song. I don’t know why I am liking girl power songs. Like the title says, it’s a song about a girl telling the guy (who I assume broke up with her) I’ll show you I can’t live without you! Yay for girl power!

The thing I like about this song is the transition from the slow beat to a fast one. I don’t know why I like songs like these, maybe its these! But maybe it’s because of Davichi’s 8282! Ha.. But actually, to me this song doesn’t sound too much of a Korean pop song. I think it sounds more like Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive. It has a western touch to it. I think maybe it’s because those are the influences Ailee has with her music.

I have always liked Ailee’s voice and this song showcases her talents, that she can belt a ballad as well as do a fast song. She did prove that when she showed her versatility on Immortal Song 2. I just love this girl!! And I think she could make it big internationally especially because she can speak English.

The MV

When I saw the teaser, I was like OMG it’s G.O! Sorry Ailee, I love you but G.O caught my attention first! But this is Ailee’s song not MBLAQ so I’ll stop talking about G.O. He plays the love interest in the MV.

So the story of the MV is quite simple. It’s something you will most likely see for a song like this. No need to explain really! Haha.. But Ailee was really pretty  with the transformation! I’m so envious of how good she looks with that minidress!  This video is screaming how pretty this girl is!

But what’s up with the ending! I thought you were telling the guy you will show him! Why did you get back with him! Girl you need to keep your head high and not get back with him! ok ok so I am complaining. Oh well maybe her purpose for showing him was to win him back.. but but… ok i’ll stop.

Final Verdict: I love how Ailee showed her versatility in this song! I can’t wait for the broadcasts!

I Don’t Need A Man 남자 없이 잘 살아 – Miss A (MV)

Miss A has released the MV of their new song I Don’t Need A Man (남자 없이 잘 살아).

The Video

This is a very different video from Miss A. If you’ve seen all their past videos you would know what I am talking about. This video shows more of the hip hop side of Miss A.

The video is a bit confusing for me at first. I had to rewatch it to appreciate it. But I kind of like it. The best part for me was the beginning. I love that this video is all about a woman singing that she is independent. I feel like we need more of this in the Kpopland. Honestly, nowadays there are too many songs that are too cute for my  liking and it’s usually singing about getting a guy or breaking up with a guy. It’s too much!

The video does remind me a bit of Destiny’s Child’s Independent Women. But I think not plagiarizing way, because after all that video was a different one. I guess it’s just the message of the song! Haha.. The black, white and red colors in the song worked for me. But I’m not really fond of the costumes that they wore in this video. Maybe I am just used to seeing Miss A wearing something different. The dance is not as powerful as their old dances. I maybe it’s because the beat of the song is different and slower compared to their previous releases.

What I do love it how Miss A can change their concept and fit perfectly to the concepts of their song. They never had that difficulty I think. From Bad Girl Good Girl, Breathe, Goodbye Baby and Touch — all these songs have a different persona of each member. I kind of like this bit from Miss A. Their concepts are cool and not wacky or too over the top! In this video, it’s the hip-hop Miss A.. And I think I would have to get used of this new concept!

The Song

This is a surprise because this song sounds less of a pop song and more of a hip hop mixed with rnb track — very different from previous Miss A songs. It’s also slower compared to other Miss A songs. But what’s great about it is that it displays Miss A’s versatility with music. But as of writing, I’m still getting used to this new track. But it’s getting to me slowly.

I love Miss A MVs because they always have an English caption released with it. So it’s easy to understand and there is no need to wait for translations. I love the lyrics of the song! Like I said above, we need more of these kind of songs in Kpopland!!! I’m too tired of listening to girls catching a guy’s attention or crying of a broken heart! I love that it says I don’t need a man! Cheers for Miss A for releasing this song! I also love the bit where they say “jinja” and “cheongmal” in the chorus! Catchy!

What’s not to love about Min rapping in the song! I know Jia always does the rap parts, but I love it that Min is rapping in this song too! Sorry I have a bit of bias for her (can’t you tell?) but I think she’s very talented and I especially her bubbly personality!

Final Verdict: This is a new Miss A sound and I’m still getting used to it! But I do love the lyrics of the song! Hurray for Independent Women!!

I’ll Be The – Spica (MV)

I am a kid of the 1990s. I grew up adoring girl bands and boy bands — not the Asian ones though. I don’t know if you remember the Bewitched and S Club 7, but this song remind me so much of their songs back then!

It’s Spica‘s I’ll be there.

The MV

I have to admit, I was checking Spica out because I read an article that Junjin’s (Shinhwa) new girlfriend is from Spica. I was curious! Haha.. but she is pretty! Who is she? She’s the rapper in this song. She kind of reminds me of the younger Yoon Mirae (Tasha) with a mix of Park Shiyeon. But anyway, I’ll stop about it because this post is not about them 😛

I know of Spica because I kind of liked their debut song Russian Roulette (though I called it the “bang bang bang” song). I was intrigued by that song because it was different at that time. And now, I like Spica more because of this song. I think I will be watching out for them.

Except for the intro of the video and the cow, I like it. I think the introduction was a bit too long and the eerie sound didn’t fit such a happy song.  And what the heck was the cow doing there?? But you go girl for still rapping even with the cow at your back! I would go crazy if it was at my back! The video itself was simple and its kind of nostalgic to see a video like this. It reminds me of the videos of Western girl groups in past. It showed the playful side of the girls without being too cute. I think that’s why I am liking them. I don’t have anything against girl groups being cute and all but I think it’s too overused. I all for the concept of the video!

Another think I like about it is the simplicity of the dance. It’s so 1990! It reminds me of all those Spice Girl dances back then. Though there were some elements added in the dance that will let you know is 2012, but you can’t deny most of the simple movements were the dances kids of the 90s are all too familiar with! I like the circle dance thing the most!

The Song

Can I just say I love it?! This kind of song is not common as of the moment in Kpop (you would know what I mean if you’ve been listening to Kpop songs). When I first heard this song I felt like I was transported to the time I was 10! I could not stop listening to this song! And I don’t even mind the engrish parts because of the melody!

It was brave of them to release a song like this. This is not like all those mainstream Korean songs that are way way popular there. It’s also another reason why I like this song. Because it’s different. All the previous songs that they had were a bit mainstream and this is something fresh, but I’m afraid it would not be popular though.

These girls are also very talented! It’s nice to finally hear a song with very little autotune. Frankly, I think this is what Kpop needs more. Bring back all the songs with no autotune!! I personally like the voices of these girls compared to the ones who debuted with them. It’s a mixture of strong and sweet voices that make good melody. I do wish these girls would become really popular especially because they are very talented.

Final Verdict: This song reminds me of girl groups of my past so I like it. It’s not mainstream Kpop which is good! This group is talented and I’m going to watch out for more of them!

Missing You – G Dragon ft. Kim Yuna of Jaurim (Lyrics)

I’ve been listening to G Dragon‘s One of  a Kind mini album for awhile now. But I never had the chance to post anything about. This mini album is actually a very good one. I like the fact that the music in it is different from his past album Heartbreaker. Also I like it because all the tracks were different, there were slow and fast songs. Today, I am posting about my favorite track in the album, Missing You which features Kim Yuna of Jaurim.

This track has not been promoted but I can’t stop listening to it! Actually I think the only time GD sang it was during GD Friends Live where his friend Lydia sung Kim Yuna’s part.

This song is one of the slower tracks featured in the album. I started to like it when I heard the whistling part, the first few bars of the song. And then GDs rapping style was also different for this song.  And when Kim Yuna sang the chorus I’m sold to this song! 🙂 The beat of this song is very addictive especially the part saying “Maybe I’m Missing You”.. i was singing it right after I heard this song. And of course, like all songs GD wrote, this is one of the best probably.

And because I like it so much, I’m putting the lyrics of the song..

Missing You (Romanized)

Missing You (English Translation)

Yeah (maybe i’m missing you)
I meet ordinary ppl and talk to them
Laugh w/ them, just like usual, w/o any thoughts.
Tv is my only friend at night
I finally go to sleep when the sun rises in the morning
I’m too shabby, i might have liked you a lot.
After you left, the blue sky seems like it’s just yellow
Where are you feeling hurt, i’m here
Or maybe you’re in love w/ someone else
Some other love, i miss you my baby

My heart feels this sad but i have no one to talk to
I wanna smile broadly sometime but have no one beside me
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you

Back then, we were like that
Between you and me it was all clear and pure
First it was all about love, just like everyone says
Why did we do that though we all know
(But) as time goes, like the glass breaking
Like the ring in hands losing its light
Like getting a cut by a sharp knife
Like strangling my neck w/ the chain of restriction
The memories that i have w/ you
Which i thought they’re gonna be always good
Though i hate it, only the wounds and unsolved misunderstandings are left.
I needed to hold back till the end
The words of “i’m breaking up w/ you”
(Yet) the time we fight and argue
It was better than now.

My heart feels this sad but i have no one to talk to
I wanna smile broadly sometime but have no one beside me
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you

I still feel like you’re next to me everyday when i open my eyes
Can’t we turn the times back that we’ve been together ah- ah-
My heart feels this sad but i have no one to talk to
I wanna smile broadly sometime but have no one beside me ah ah

My heart feels this sad but i have no one to talk to
I wanna smile broadly sometime but have no one beside me
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you

Missing You (Hangeul)

Yeah (maybe I’m missing you)

Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you

Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you

Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you oh oh
Maybe i’m missing you

Final Verdict: A song I could listen to again and again! The best one from this mini album.. but check out the other songs too!

Asian Food: Bungeossamanko 붕어싸만코 and Gukhwappang 국화빵 (Korean Ice Cream)

School’s finally finished this term and it’s time for me to take a rest. That means I can blog more! yipee!!!

So recently I went on a trip to Bangkok to watch Big Bang’s concert. All this time I have been craving for Korean food. From the province I live in, it’s not easy to find a Korean restaurant! There are 2 I think, but it’s kind of has a fusion taste which I don’t really think is delicious. And it ain’t cheap here!

Back when I was living in Cebu, there were a lot of Korean restaurants to choose from. And the range in prices were quite ok. Food was delicious as most of the restaurants were owned by Koreans and they had Korean chefs (fyi.. a lot of Koreans come to my city to study English so that’s why there were lots). Aside from restaurants, there were also Korean grocery stores. But from where I live now, there isn’t any!

Anyway, when I went to Bangkok I convinced my friend to go and have lunch with me in Korean Town. Actually, it’s not really a town, but it’s in Sukhumvit Place (Soi 12 in Bangkokg, between Asok and Nana stations of the Sukhumvit BTS — when going there get off at Asok station, it’s closer). After lunch we decided to eat some Korean Ice Cream and thank god I found my favorite – Bungeossamanko 붕어싸만코.  So I’ll be writing to you about 2 of my favorite korean ice creams: Bungeossamanko 붕어싸만코 and Gukhwappang 국화빵.

Bungeossamanko 붕어싸만코

This is what it looks like on the outside.

This ice cream is sometimes called the Fish Ice Cream to non Korean speakers. But don’t worry it tastes nothing like fish! It’s just shaped like a fish. But once you take a bite you’ll love it. The ice cream has a wafer thin layer outside and inside it, has vanilla ice cream with a red bean filling.

This ice cream is really good and I think the best part about it is the red bean filling. I know that in most countries, they don’t really eat red bean as a dessert. But in countries in East Asia they do. It’s sweet yummy goodness is to die for. It costs 40 baht for each ice cream here. A little more expensive than what I usually paid for back home.

Gukhwappang 국화빵

This ice cream is a bit similar to Bungeossamanko but it has a twist, it has ddeok 떡 in between the layer of vanilla ice cream and red bean paste. Ddeok is actually just rice cake. That’s how they call it in Korea. For the sake of comparison, it’s just like the Japanese mochi. By the way, the layer of ddeok is very thin, but since it’s frozen, it can be very hard to chew at times.

I wasn’t too familiar with this ice cream until one Korean friend introduced it to me. I am a mochi and red bean fan, and when you put those two together, I’d be on cloud nine! So when I tasted it, I immediately loved it. I actually prefer this than the first one. But unfortunately it’s difficult to get it. In the grocery store that we went to, there wasn’t any Gukhwappang. Even back home, it would be sold out immediately. I kind of miss it though..

Korean ice creams are very good and very delicious! It’s also very sweet. So if you are like me who has a sweet tooth, the next time you come by a Korean grocery store, try to look for these two ice creams and try it! It’s really good!

Hoya’s Dancing to Deux (from Answer Me 1997)

I know Answer Me 1997 (Reply 1997) has ended but i still can’t get over it and I haven’t watched too much drama because of it (except for Nice Guy).

I’ve been rewatching several episodes and I forgot that I didn’t post this on my blog. Well better late than never! haha

It’s Hoya of Infinite (who plays Jun Hee in the drama) dancing to Deux 나를 돌아봐 (Turn Around and Look at Me).

Dancing machine Hoya!! Daebak! I know he dances well among all the Infinite members.. and I think I like him more now than L! lol but Sunggyu’s still number one!

Hoya was also good for this drama, especially since it’s his first drama and to play such a role as he did (no spoilers first, will be doing a recommendation later!) is commendable, especially from an idol!

Will be watching out for more of Hoya! kya~~ ^_^

Thoughts on Big Bang’s Alive Galaxy Tour

And I am back! I was gone for a long time because of the final exams… I swear this is the hardest part of teaching high school kids! After checking endless papers and making lots and lots of grades, I rewarded myself with watching a concert in Bangkok. And I’m so glad it was Big Bang’s Alive Galaxy Tour 2012!

Honestly, I like Big Bang but I still can’t call myself a VIP because I don’t stalk them as much as Super Junior. But I do like them and the songs their songs. But though, I have to admit there was a time when I got a little bored of their songs. But their ALIVE album was to me a very good come back so I decided to watch their concert. There were two concert schedules in Bangkok, October 5 and 6. But since the seats for the Saturday concert were crap (pardon me) my friend and I decided to go there on Friday. Good thing school’s term is finished! The seats we got were quite good. It was definitely better than the Super Junior seat I had last time! 🙂

I arrived at the venue around 5 but it was full of people already! There were lots to do before the concert, some booths, people painting VIP tatoos, doing cover dances, contests… lots of them. They gave a lot of freebies too! And of course there was a booth for the official goods. Though, like all concerts, there were lots of people peddling stuff that looked like Big Bang good, when actually they aren’t. I don’t really mind, but I think it’s better to buy Big Bang merchandise to support them right? Anyway, the line to get inside to the venue was very very long!!! we had to wait like 45 minutes before we got inside 😦

The security of the concert was quite strict. No food and drinks allowed. If you bought food (like we did) you had to through it away. Also, no cameras or recording devices were allowed. You could only bring your mobile phones. This was indicated in the ticket. I did not think they would be that strict, but they were. I saw a lot of fan girls sad when they were told to leave their cameras. And just to give you an example of how strict YG is when they say no cameras, the girl sitting in front of me tried to take a picture, but she was warned with laser lights pointed directly at her. She only used her iPhone by the way. So don’t attempt to do so.. you’ve been warned!

The concert was a BLAST! OMG! Like it was really really nice! It lasted for almost 3 hours and I can’t remember a time when i felt tired. It was very well planned. All throughout it I was shouting at the top of my lungs (and two days later, I still don’t have my voice back :().  If you are a fan of the YG dancers, you would be happy to see them. I only see them on broadcasts and don’t really pay much attention to them, but on stage they were very good too! Also, a band was playing their songs live! During the encore part, they played like 3-4 more songs and the band could play it well. That was the best encore stage so far that I saw!

Taeyang was amazing during the concert (well he is my biased). But for this concert, he was the one doing the MC-ing part. I guess maybe because he can speak English. Him and G-Dragon were the ones talking in English to the fans most of the time. Taeyang is amazing on stage he owned it. Actually him and GD. GD though is a bit more playful on stage and it was so much fun watching him. Taeyang is the best dancer among them definitely and a performer. I’m sure those who have biases with him will be pleased and will be on cloud nine after watching this concert. I know I was! My only regret is he did not sing I need a girl. But it’s ok. GD is a performer no doubt! He knows how to please his fans. And though, it was not part of the song list, he performed a bit of One of Kind with the other boys beat boxing in the background.

It was so sad because TOP hurt his hands. I felt sorry because he could only hold the mic with one had, but nevertheless he still performed quite well. If you think he is charming on videos, you will find him more handsome on stage. He has an aura of being attractive. Could-not-explain-it-here-so-you-should-see-him-in-person!!! Daesung! Oh Daesung, as usual is the funniest member of the group. Though he spoke mostly in Korean but he was the one who made the jokes and the Thai impersonations. The Thai VIPs loved it of course! And his voice is better heard live. He has one of the strongest voice in Kpop i think.  And then there is Seungri, who I will remember for doing the Gangnam Style dance! My friend likes him a lot so till now I could hear her screams! But I think Seungri is the member who approached the fans the most. And as a maknae, he also is a bit mischievous on stage! But he is funny too!

To best experience this concert, it recommend you have the crown light stick. (It was sold here for 800 baht, but I’m not sure how much it would in your place). It’s not complete if you don’t wave it with the music. But warning, your arms will hurt because you can’t put it down! I didn’t want the concert to end!!!

Haha.. but there are two words to describe this concert:

FANTASTIC BABY!!!!
