Do You Know (알고 있나요) – Someday ft. Jea (BEG)

For a fan of the drama Boys Over Flowers, I know you must be familiar with this song. In the OST of Boys Over Flowers, Do You Know by Someday was featured as one of the songs, which of course became very popular.

But did you know that there was a duet version of this song featuring Jea (Brown Eyed Girls)??

At the time Boys Over Flowers was airing, I did not know that there was a duet version of this song, up until a few months ago when I was searching for new songs to download. This song was one of my favorites in the BOF soundtrack so I was a little hesitant about this version. I was very much surprised that this version was sung as a duet. But when I heard it, I immediately liked it. Heck, I even prefer it over the one that was featured in BOF.

I love the idea of having Jea’s voice in the song. I mean I like her voice, I think she has one of the strongest voice in the Kpop industry. It added more spice to the very likeable song. The blending of the voice sounded very much pleasant to my ears.

As for the video.. well remember that guy who played Sam Soom’s ex-boyfriend, yup that’s the same guy. And I have to say he looks better here. He was too lanky during the Kim Sam Soon days (but that was in 2005, I think this songs was in 2009). Oh sorry I forgot to tell you his name is Lee Kyuhan. And if you’re a Super Junior fan, you might have seen him in Introducing a Star’s Friend with Leeteuk and Eunhyuk.

So I hope you liked the song… and if you like it you can click here to have it 🙂

Waiting (기다리다) – Panic (패닉)

I am absolutely enjoying old Kpop songs these days. I don’t know but I get excited when I hear them sing an old song and I immediately jumped to looking for the original singer of the song.

I have been listening to this song over and over for the past few days (its this and David Choi’s By My Side). I know it has been sung over and over again by several artists and it has been featured in Kdramas, the latest of which was in Dream High. But I guess this song will not fade (that’s why I love old songs :))

The song is called Waiting (기다리다) by Panic (패닉). I couldn’t find any music video so I settled for a this….

and  a live version of Lee Jeok (이적) singing (by the way he was part of Panic but he’s a solo artist now..

This song was originally releases in 1995 as part of Panic’s first album. I absolutely love the strumming of the guitar in this song. There is something about acoustic music that really draws me. Must be my liking for rock music. And the song’s melody is truly saying the feeling of the lyrics of the song, so that’s another plus in my book. I just love it and I have been playing this again and again. Here’s the lyrics to help you sing along…

Waiting (English Translation)

While I was waiting for you,
I’ve been thinking that you’re so painful after you left me.
So you’re crying on the way back to me.
When I look at you, I hope.
On a clear day you will come back to me just like when you left me.

Can’t I see you again?
I can’t see me in your eyes
Comfortable waves and remains of the smile make me cry.
You’d come back to me
Don’t hesitate to come to my arms if your heart called me
I’ll hug you like I did before.

Waiting 기다리다 (Hangeul)

I know a lot of Kdrama fans recognized this song being sung by Pilsuk’s (IU) character from Dream High. This was the song she was singing in the hospital. But I liked this song when I saw Kim Hyun Joong singing it in Boys Over Flowers. This was the song he sang when he was in Macau (before the acoustic version of Because I’m a Fool). *wink *wink ^_^

So who sang it better?

Kyuhyun and Jungmo (Trax) at Immortal Song 2

I was talking to my friends the other night. We were watching some videos (particulary Suju’s Why I Like You performance — and it was played again and again 🙂 –). Suddenly another friend asked me how about the rock scene in Kpop? Do they have any?

My friends know I am an avid rock fan — been a rock fan since I was in grade school. So they were kind of curious if the kind of rock songs that I love also existed in the Kpop world. My answer to them was this.. yes there are bands but their bands are all flower boys. Most of the kind of rock songs I like are indie groups. Truth be told, the kind of rock songs I like are the loud ones, like the ones you will hear from Jpop rock groups.

The closest I can get to my kind of rock music is Trax. So when I saw this video I was happy that some people do like rock in Korea.

This is the video of Kyuhyun‘s performance on Immortal Song 2 with Jungmo from Trax as his special guest. He singing a song called Masquerade.

It was stunning to hear and see this performance. Jungmo is a real good guitar player! Really REALLY good (not to mention good looking… see flower boys!).  And I didn’t know Kyuhyun’s voice would be good for a rock song, but I think he nailed this performance. I think it has to do something with the shout. If I didn’t know him, I think I could never tell that he is part of a boyband. The make up though — I really don’t understand why they correlate rock with eyeliners. If it was a goth / emo  rock band, yes. But have you ever seen Oasis wear eyeliners.. nuh-uh! And rock bands don’t dress that way, they dress comfortably. Maybe it’s their concept of being in a rock band.

But I was glad with this performance especially because its a show where most of the contestants are or were from idol groups (except Huh Gak but  I’m still rooting for him! oops.. and Kyuhyun too!) It was something refreshing from the usual cutesy kind of music.

Superman – Super Junior MV

I’ve been busy these days but a friend of mine (Johnny Talker) was telling me to post something on the blog. So here it is…

Well he particularly asked for a post not from an unknown Kpop artist so I am posting something from an idol group — my favorite idol group! kk 🙂

This is the video of Super Junior‘s Superman.

For those who have been watching their comeback and who’ve been following them, you would know that this song is not part of their 5th album, but it was performed during their comebacks. So due to the public demands of the fans, the group has recorded the full song of Superman and was released in the version B of the album.

When I first heard the song, I was like.. it sounded weird and it’s not something you would hear from them. Though there were some traces of it sounding a bit like Miina. The song particularly talks about them being a superman in the industry. It also says something about their experience and hardships to get to being super junior.

A lot of fans have been complaining about the video as its just a compilation of the concert. But I think it was nicely put together. I think they didn’t have much time to make the video, of course all of them are busy with the promotion of Mr. Simple and other activities, plus Heechul is going to enlist in the army real soon. I don’t think the boys have time to make a video. I think this video and song was put released a a fan service to all the fans, so we should be at least thankful. And we want them to rest a bit right? Some fans can be so crazy.. well I think that’s part of the insatiable needs of a fan.

So anyway enjoy the video.

Naiisip Mo Ba – David DiMuzio (MV)

This is indeed a first! I mean this is the first time that I’ve seen an American who has released a Filipino song in the Philippines! And I am happy.

This is the song Naiisip Mo Ba by David DiMuzio.

It’s a great song. I especially like how he blended English with the Tagalog. Though, the tagalog is only heard in the chorus, I liked that it’s sung by a foreigner but you can really hear the tagalog part.

Yes, mga kababayan, he is an American! According to his facebook page, he is from Charlotte, North Carolina but he has recorded and wrote several songs for artists such as Nyoy Volante, Mark Bautista, and Top Suzara (Freestyle). You can check out his facebook page to know more about him.

Wow I am very impressed with him. I actually saw his video because I was searching for covers of Lagi (Kiss Jane). And thus I found this video.

It’s a very good cover I think.

Gonna be looking out for more of his tracks! I’m loving his music! 🙂

Junsu (JYJ) on Scent of a Woman

I have been watching 3 dramas recently – Heartstrings, Myungwol the Spy and Scent of a Woman. It has been the talk of the town that Junsu (JYJ) is going to make a cameo appearance on Scent of a Woman and he did that last week!

Junsu played a singer whom Kim Sunah‘s character really adored. Because she wanted to watch his fan meeting, she sent several entries using different names of people to increase her chances of getting picked for the fan meeting. And she did get picked and eventually landed a date with him because of the entry that she sent… Here is the video from the episode (watch it before it gets removed).

Do I smell a drama with Junsu starring in it? I mean it could be a possibility, since Jaejoong and Yoochun have already done several dramas. Maybe Junsu’s up next..

This cameo appearance really had me laughing, because at one time during the dinner, they couldn’t help but use Junsu’s duck butt as a joke!! Oh Junsu! kk I miss that! We also got to hear him sing Intoxication and see him dance it of course. And he also sings You Are So Beautiful which is part of the OST of Scent of a Woman. OMG if this happens to me I would really be on cloud nine.. kk dream on!

Anyway… if you were a fan of Kim Sunah in My Name is Kim Sam Soon (oh my favorite Samsooni), I would recommend this drama. And Lee Dongwook (the guy from My Girl) stars in it too. 🙂

New Jo In Sung photos (from his recent fan meet)

OMG!!! (screams from a fan girl!)

We all know that Jo In Sung has been discharged from the military right? So I decided to commence stalking mode to check what has he been up to in the days since the discharge.

Well apparently he had a recent fan meeting held last July 31 with the attendance of some 600 hundred fans! OMG! Can I like be there?!?!?!

So during the fan meeting, he greeted his fans who have been waiting for him and serenaded them with a song (I’m dying of envy now). He also informed his fans of the recent activities he will be participating, one is the filming of his new movie Fist Fighting. I can’t contain that giddy feeling of anticipating watching his movie! It definitely has been a long time.

And the fans also presented him with a cake to celebrate his birthday, which by the way is on July 28.

Hurray! He’s back.. He’s back!

Asian Food: Jolly Pong (Korean Snack)

So I saw Simon and Martina’s review some Korean snacks and I got curios about a snack called Jolly Pong. So one time I went Korean grocery store shopping, I made sure I bought one.

There are a lot of Korean are a handful of grocery stores in the city I live in because there are a lot of Korean who come here to study. So I had no difficulty looking for the the snack I wanted to buy. But I was shocked when I saw how much it was, it was like the price of 3 big Piatos snacks combined! But nevertheless I bought one.

When I opened the package, a small cardboard with a design came with it.  I was with a friend that time and we both were puzzled. We thought it was  like a collectible cardboard cut out that you usually see in those cereal boxes. I tried to read the instructions with my limited korean and found out that’s it’s supposed to be folded to scoop the jolly pang!

How cool is that.  This is how it looks like.

I just love how ingenious Koreans are when it comes to packaging. You should see their ice cream packages! They always make packages that are beneficial to their customers.

This is how the snack inside the bag looks like:

It’s like rice or some wheat popped into something like a pop corn. It’s flavored like a caramel flavored pop corn. When I tasted it, I didn’t really understand the taste and I didn’t know how to describe it. But the more I ate, the more I liked it. And it took me about 2 days to eat it (stopping in between of course) because it was just too many. I couldn’t eat all of it at one sitting because it became too sweet the more I ate. It’s a snack meant to be shared with friends.

I would definitely buy this snack again especially when I have those movie marathons! If you buy it just look for this sign and don’t forget to use the little cardboard box a scoop for your Jolly Pong!

*pictures are mine, take out with proper credits thanks!

Mr. Simple – Super Junior

Ok so I have been fan girling for about a week now… unfortunately, I had no time to post my fan girl moment because I was too busy processing some papers.. sigh, I hate red tape!

Anyway, I cannot not have this video on my site. KK As a Super Junior fan, it needs to be on my site! It’s their new track, Mr. Simple.

So, this is said to be part of their SJ Funky sound, and it’s supposed to be the last among the three. SJ Funky is the same beat like that of Sorry Sorry and Bonamana. But among the three, if you ask me, I still like Sorry Sorry. Now when I first heart this song, it’s like… uhmm there’s too many things going on. But the more I listen to it, it gets to me, and I am suddenly singing along. What I like about it though was the lyrics. Unlike the other previous Suju songs which have been promoted,  it’s talking about not worrying about what others think about you and just to be yourself. I like those kind of songs, and it’s certainly refreshing.

When I saw the video, it’s very simple, the dance is very simple. Even the part where Eunhyuk does his usual dance, just the break dancing shattering the glass was different (But yay for having Donghae, Sungmin and Kyuhyun for the back up!). I am not sure but I think I was expecting a more complicated dance routine like they did with Sorry Sorry and Bonamana. It’s you had a more complicated choreography. Some of my friends think that it’s been done haphazardly maybe because due to the busy schedules and activities of the boys. I think they work too hard and sometimes they deserve a break. 🙂

But anyway, I am a fan, so it doesn’t stop me from liking the song. They have started promoting already and I can’t help but fan girl when they perform (especially Siwon’s costume during their comeback on Music Bank, reminds me of his character in Athena — I can’t wait for Poseidon!). So now I have a reason to stream the music shows again! kk

Super Junior Fighting! kk 🙂

Vision of Love – 4Men (MV)

Ok so, you don’t actually see 4Men in the video, but I am posting this because the video screams Lee Byung Hun.

This is the video of 4Men‘s single Vision pf Love.

I swear I need to see more of them in the Korean music shows. I mean they have one of the best voices in Korea (for a music group) and I love their music very much. They have released really good ballads and I think they deserve more recognition than Korean is giving them now.

Anyway, another reason for posting this video, is because I think this is Lee Byung Hun‘s new Korean movie. And the plus side is Bae Subin (from Shining Inheritance /Brilliant Legacy and 49 Days) is going to star in the movie. From what I gather, it will revolve around 2 friends having the same affection for the girl. Common plot.. maybe but it involves car racing and stuff so I think it would be nice.. kk And Lee Byung Hun, though he is not one of the most handsome Korean actors, but he can act! And I mean really act. I love how he can change characters depending on the movie or drama. Ohh and I just can’t wait for the new G.I Joe movie!!

Really anticipating this new movie.. 🙂
