Ailee’s performs Don’t Leave Me (JYP)

I love this girl! And I love this song!

It’s Ailee‘s cover of the JYP‘s song Don’t Leave Me 날 떠나지마 (performed on Immortal Song 2).

I liked Ailee even before she debuted in Korea. I remember enjoying her covers. She has a very good voice and she could belt too! I’ve been watching a lot of her performances lately on Inmmortal Song 2 and I’m loving this girl more and more!

For two weeks now, they did covers of JYP songs — songs he sang and those he composed. Last week, I enjoyed Lyn’s performance of Bad Girl, Good Girl in acoustic version. Lyn is very popular for doing this,  remember her version of Oh, Heartbreaker, Bo Beep Bo Beep… But just that she has done it so many times in other shows, that it was kind of not the song she should have sung. But enough about Lyn.

So Ailee did the cover of JYP’s Don’t Leave Me 날 떠나지마. I was actually looking forward to this performance because it was Ailee and this is my favorite JYP song (yes it’s very very old!). And Ailee nailed it!! It had Park Jin Young vibe! I think even the JYP himself was quite happy with how she sang the song.  I just loved it! Ailee is so good!!! And props to bringing Shorry to the performance.

Enjoyed every minute of this performance.

Dalamatian’s Comeback with E.R (MV)

Since their debut, I really liked this group. and so I was glad that they’re making a come back after more than a year of hiatus.

It’s Dalmatian with E.R.

I haven’t really been paying attention to Kpop news — too busy having a vacation and watching all the dramas and movies that I missed. So When I saw this MV I was frantically looking for Day Day. I thought my eyes were deceiving me. A quick google search told me that he has quit the group for personal reasons. NOOOOOO! Sigh.. the group has a new singer rapper, Simon. I have to admit he is pretty good looking, but Dalmatian is different without Day Day!! Oh well I have Daniel and Jisu to root for now.

The reason why I liked Dalmatian was because of how they were structured — 3 guys would rap and the other 3 would sing. They were like a nice hip hop pop group. But with this new song, I didn’t really hear a lot of rap. I mean, I know how good singers Jisu and Daniel are, but it sounds a little different to me. Maybe a little more mainstream. It’s too common. Compared to their past songs, this one had lesser rap. Maybe they are changing their concept or something, but it’s just not the same — Dalmatian without a lot of rap in their songs… too different! Wonder what MC Mong would have said if he heard this song.

But but but.. on the plus side.. the video was hot! Though a little morbid and stuff (wonder how it feels like to be stuffed in that body bag!). About time they showed off their bodies!! Kya! fan girling! Also, the painted tattoos were not as bad as I thought it would be. I love how they showed off the manly side of Jisu and Daniel! Omona! Jisu.. you’ve matured so much! As usual Youngwoon has the hair that catches your attention! Remember his blue hair? Well I haven’t seen him have long curly locks!

Conclusion: Song — good but it’s doesn’t give me the Dalmatian vibe. Video — sizzling hot except for the morbid parts!

The Chaser – Infinite (MV)

I was supposed to make two other posts yesterday but sleep got the better of me.

So Infinite has come back with a new song called The Chaser 추격자.

I wasn’t really an Infinite fan when they first started out. A friend of mine was and was trying to make me like them. But I did like how graceful and well coordinated they are when they move. But when I heard Be Mine, that song blew me off and now I’m rooting for them! Though I still have to get to the part where I have to identify their names… I can recognize their faces though I only know Sunggyu, L and Hoya.

I was expecting a lot from this song, but I was a little bit disappointed that it did not match up to Be Mine 내꺼하자. The song does sound a bit like Be Mine. I think this is the sound that Infinite want us to recognize that it’s theirs. When I hear something like this I get the Be Mine feeling. I think Be Mine had a much stronger sound that sticks to your head. But don’t get me wrong, I like the song, maybe I was just expecting a song that could top Be Mine. That being said, Be Mine is my favorite Infinite song (then Cover Girl and Amazing!).

Now on to the video… well there’s this thing about the car that was tumbling over… its to put it in a nice way, not edited properly. There was nothing wrong with L’s acting just that it was ridiculous to see that same car tumbling over and it’s not even convincing for me. It’s like they just replayed, rewind, fast forward it, took it from another angle. I think they could have done better! The dance as usual was flawless. I think that’s why I like watching them boys because they are so in sync when they dance. Now I want to see the dance version of the MV.

So to conclude, though this was a good song, to me it isn’t their best song. I still think Be Mine is the best release Infinite song!

Xiah Junsu’s TARANTALLEGRA!

When I learned that Xiah Junsu was going to release a his solo album I was thrilled to the max! And I think it’s about time!

And he has released his song Tarantellegra.

As his fan since he was DBSK, I am so happy!! My Kpop addiction started my DBSK craziness and Junsu was my favorite back then (recall mode: drooling over his biceps in Mirotic). To me he has the best vocals in the group (and I think the critics would agree too) and the best dancer! Though some would say Yunho is the best, but Xiah for me was more graceful and fluid, Yunho’s was a bit more powerful to my liking and too serious. So as a fan I’m thrilled for his album.

As for the song, I didn’t really get it at first. Honestly I was a bit hesitant to make this post, but I give credit to my Junsu fandom. When I saw the title of the song I was like.. where did I hear this.. and yes, it’s Harry Potter! No wonder it sounded so familiar! It was the dancing feet spell Draco Malfoy used against Harry when they dueled. (sorry I like Harry Potter too much!). And this is what the music is supposed to be. I’m not very keen on it at first but after listening to it a few times it was getting to me. So now it sounds good — it’s a dance track. Now I wish he would really promote a slow song!

Honestly… I am not a fan of the video. I know the message is supposed to be about in a spell.. but it was too dark and I don’t know I feel like something was not right. Sorry Junsu, though I like you, I think this video was awful! (my opinion guys so don’t bash!) I especially don’t like the part when they dyed your hair orange and they let you wear that ridiculous outfit with two girls dancing beside you! OMG!!! Omona… memories of the Ayy Girl MV are creeping in..

The only consolation I had with this video is how awesome you were dancing! And I think the dance was quite powerful. Oh and did anyone notice that his back-up dancers were not Korean? Anyway, though it’s a powerful MV, I just didn’t like it.

I would very much like to see him perform this on the broadcast shows, but I’m not sure if that is going to happen! Sad… it would be nice to have him promote a slow ballad too.

Verdict for this: It’s better to hear the song! But watch the MV to support him.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Just a quick post to honor one of the most important woman in our lives…. our MOMS!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful Mom’s in the World..

And these two songs are for you all!

To My Mother – G.O.D

G.O.D’s first single from way back. This is a sad song by the way, but I kind of like this song because we have to tell our mom’s we love them.

Mama – Spice Girls

I know I know it’s not Asian. But as a girl who has grown up I think I understand fully what this song means now :)

Happy Mother’s Day!

Maybe Maybe (어쩌면 어쩌면) – Alex and Horan

Yay! it’s a new song with Alex and Horan singing. It’s called Maybe, Maybe (but i think it’s better if they translated it Perhaps, it has a more dramatic effect).

I am so excited hearing them together again!!! Bring back Clazziquai Project!!!!

Anyway, this song was actually composed and written for a show called Music and Lyrics. For this particular episode, John Park and actress Park Jin Hee team up to make a song.. and this is the song they made.. and i am so happy they let Alex and Horan sing it!!!

For those who do not know, they were part of Clazziquai Project. I think their voices match really well and they sound very good together. And that I probably why I love them so much! I wish they had more songs.

Looking forward to more from Alex and Horan. Fluxus music.. please!!!!!

Recommended Movie: Sunny (Korean Movie)

I saw this movie awhile ago but I haven’t had the chance to recommend it. I’m sure a lot of you have seen this. And to me it has become my favorite Korean movie to date.

The movie is not about losing the one you love or finding love in the most uncommon place, but it’s about friendship. And this movie is called Sunny.

Synopsis:

The film is about the story of 7 high school friends. The film begins by letting us know the usual routine of our heroine Nami. She is a wealthy homemaker. One day, she went to the hospital to visit her sick mom. It was on that day that she sees a patient who was struggling and shouting in her hospital ward. She reads the name on the door and it says “Han Chunhwa”. Seeing the name makes her remember of her high school days. Later, she finds out that Chunhwa was indeed her friend from high school. Apparently she is diagnosed with cancer and that she was dying. Chunhwa asks Nami if she can find the other members of their high school group “Sunny”. It’s her dying wish and Nami obliges. And thus starts the story of them remembering their pasts and seeing what has happened to each of them in the present.

Sorry I don’t want to write the whole story.. kk better watch the movie!

Why I like it?

This movie brought me to tears and it’s not even a romantic movie! I am not really a sucker for friendship movies because they usually don’t have a very good story. But with this movie, I think the story was absolutely perfect. Also, Korea has more romantic comedies or drama films, but they have very few films about friends, especially about friendship of women. I guess it was a refreshing one to watch.

The transition between old and new was also brilliant. It was not annoying and I love how they connect the scenes. The perfect example was when Nami was walking back to her school.

One minute she was in the present and the next moment she was in the past. And then we see the old Nami. I loved how they did it.

I also liked that there was a balance between the fun, the sadness and the heartbreak in this movie. They did have a love line but I’m glad it was not the emphasis of the movie or else it would ruin it! This movie had me laughing and crying. And did I mention the epic fight scenes both in the past and the future was brilliant!!

Also, the music and the montages of the past were pretty effective to me. Like the one where they fought during a demonstration. I love the songs in the movie too and the musical numbers they did! Gotta love Kang Sora!!!

I know it’s not related to the movie, but I can’t help admiring the posters. From my point of view I think they did a good job with the message of the movie and the posters.

 Teen Version

 Grown-up Version

After watching this movie I hoped that me and my friends would never lose touch and would still be super close.

Another thing…

Though this movie is not a musical, I love how they paid homage to the song Sunny both in the past and in the present. Warning: DO NOT WATCH these videos if you don’t want any spoilers!!!

I wish me and my friends would have a friendship this long.. Enjoy!!

Hiatus and Shinhwa Obsessions

I went on a long vacation! But it does not mean I have been missing things about Asian stuff!

For the month I didn’t make a post, I have been obsessing watching past and present videos of SHINHWA!!!

Shin who?? If you’ve just become a Kpop fan for about a year or two, you probably would not recognize. They were one of whom you would call the original Kpop idols— long before DBSK, Big Bang and Super Junior!

They haven’t been around for 4 years or so but they’ve just came back with a new single. And I was watching their videos the whole time even while I was on vacation! Oh blame it on these guys craziness!! I swear they always make me laugh every time they are on variety shows. I think they are called Korea’s original variety idols!

But enough said, I am back from my vacation and will be posting more (when I can, because it’s the start of school again in Thailand). And thus, I leave you with my favorite Shinhwa song… Perfect Man.

Go Jun Pyo vs. City Hunter (fanmade video)

This is so cool! Though I think this has been posted somewhere else.. but it’s so cool!

It’s Go Jun Pyo vs. City Hunter… well at least in a fan made video… the video title is Hunter Over Flowers.

I was actually brought to this video because of a post from Dramabeans (one of the best sources for drama info and recaps!). The video was actually about Fashion King (Yoo Ah In) and Rooftop Prince (JYJ’s Yoochun). And then I saw this! As you can see its a video of Lee Min Ho playing 2 different characters from 2 different dramas. And one word for this video — EPIC!!!

If I didn’t know better I would think this was a preview for another drama! Can you imagine Go Jun Pyo and City Hunter are twins and are about to Kill each other?? Now this is a drama I want to check out! Love it!!!  The video is actually edited by  wjrghk007 from a naver blog and was reuploaded on youtube. The video I posted has the English subs. And for the editing, this is hands down a really good one!

Don’t you think so??

Intimate Note with G.O.D

I love it when old idols appear on variety shows and they tell the secrets they had in the past! It’s so hilarious.

And this has got to be one of the most hilarious variety show guesting I have seen! It’s Intimate Note featuring G.O.D. I am just putting the links here because I did not sub this video..

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Intimate Note was a show (now defunct) where they invited celebrities to be closer to one another. I know of this show because of a guesting made by JYJ Junsu and Super Junior. I loved this show format and all the crazy things they had to do on the show. And you might think I’m weird by saying.. I think Kim Gura is funny! kk

In this episode we see Son Ho Young, Kim Tae Woo and Danny Ahn as the guests. They were part of G.O.D. I think you might know them as the one who sang To My Mother, a popular song about a mom doing everything for their kids. I love how these old idols fight! kk Kim Tae Woo.. you evil maknae!! kk… It woud have been nice if all of them were there.. but 3 of them is still ok.. and I love how they fight with Eun Ji Won and Moon Hee Jun… fyi.. Eun Ji Won was the leader of Sechskies while Moon Hee Jun was the leader of H.O.T. They were considered the sunbaes when G.O.D debuted. It was rumored at that both leaders were a bit arrogant.. guess there might be a truth to that.. Eun Ji Won breaking into sweat — priceless! kk

So enjoy watching this! ^_^
